The renovation project for Shree Hospital in Moshi, Pune was undertaken to improve both the internal and external aspects of the hospital’s design and identity. The hospital was inaugurated around 2014, but its original design lacked a pleasant ambiance, adequate light, and ventilation, resulting in dark and depressing interior spaces and a mediocre external appearance.

The client approached us with the task of rejuvenating the hospital while ensuring that the ongoing operations were not disrupted. We began the renovation by focusing on the front facade, which faced the southern side. Designing a facade on the southern side posed a challenge as we needed to block harsh sunlight while also maintaining openings for ventilation. Since all other sides were blocked by surrounding buildings, the facade design incorporated the use of aluminum jails and louvers to partially cover the windows. The remaining part of the facade was adorned with black basalt stone veneer, creating a striking combination with the light brown louvers and jails.

In the second phase of the project, we redeveloped the reception area and added another floor on top to accommodate the administrative and staff areas. Initially, these areas were part of the crowded and chaotic reception area on the ground floor. By freeing up space and separating these functions, we made the reception area more open and inviting. Subsequently, we redeveloped one of the in-patient department (IPD) floors, with plans to renovate the remaining floors as suitable opportunities arise.

Overall, the renovation of Shree Hospital aimed to enhance its identity and improve the overall experience for patients, staff, and visitors
